It's all action all the time for guests on the go at this "charming" spot with "plenty of activities" including biking, rollerblading, boating and sightseeing on "quaint" Balboa Island or Newport Beach, as well as tennis and shuffleboard on the hotel's "pretty" grounds; the "personable" staff is a plus, but some don't dig the "overpriced" restaurant or the "shabby" furnishings and fixtures that are "showing their age."

The rooms were old, the bathroom was small.
Our room was out on the other side of the property. The room was old, the bathroom was very small. A few days later, I received a call from my credit card company questioning me about a $75.00 charge made at the hotel about 3 days after we checked out and another transaction after that at an undisclosed place. Nice location, most of the hotel itself was wonderful.
Had one dingy area, where they put consolidator purchasers.
It was a nice hotel, I am sure if you were in the other areas, it was indeed a 4 or 5 star hotel. Unfortunately, they had one very old wing.

This was not a four star hotel.
The hotel was half full at best and he the clerk conveniently made sure we were as far away from the main facility as possible. I would note 5 minutes into our walk, outside in the rain we returned to the check in counter and spoke with a manager who changed our room to a more convenient location in the hotel. ...read more

Beautiful hotel with a very nice ambiance.
The parking prices were really too high, $19 a day, $27 for valet.
The hotel was beautiful, comfortable and very quaint. The hotel staff was attentive and helpful. Would stay at this hotel again.
